Radio Banciao Gardens: A Retrospective

August 29th, 2008

September 2007:

Note the John Lennon/Yoko reference, updated. The neighbors responded by painting on their wall in Chinese, “Please don’t dump your garbage here.”

Looks like a nice place to have a cafe or sommat.

Richard Carlile, Esq. does the honors at RB, painting the first helipad.

Ode to Radio Bancaio

August 27th, 2008

Cheap digs! A radio station where,
You are the transmitter narrow-casting,
in to
The Uni-verse.
Bugs inside,
observer on the roof.
Whatever we say or do,
goes live, with irrepressible
Ease.
The walls are listening.
If only they could speak…
And they do!
Radio Ban, Radio Ban, Radio Ban,
And the TV banned too.
At Radio Banciao,
You are the TV.
You are the subject.

~September 8, The Living Room, Taipei.

Review of the Radio Banciao Ba-by-q

August 25th, 2008

Dear Hardcore Radio Banciao Fans and Friends:
It’s great to be back from my 4-month trekkk to Amerikkka.
Your stately presence is requested at my Welcome Back Trista Barbecue on the ‘looftop’ here at Radio Banciao, this Saturday the 16th of August, starting at 7pm or so, going LATE LATE LATE, probably till the cops come, hopefully you’ll behave yourselves and they won’t!
Ross Kenneger is generously donating a BBQ/ghettoblaster to Radio Banciao for this special occasion.
Here’s the address:
This takes place in beautiful, breathtaking BANCIAO. For translation porpoises, “Huai De” translates to the Proust-like “In Remembrance of Virtue” — remind me to write a novel bearing this title someday.
If you haven’t been here before, give it a shot, and test your survival skills before calling and taking me away from hostessing duties! (Hint: There’s a neighborhood map in the MRT.)
As always, come before 10pm if you wish to avail yourselves of the myriad instruments and amplification, the robust musical perqs of our Dear Radio Banciao.
And painting opportunities galore!
And lotsa freaks like you and me.
Love to see ya there.
Lemme know if you can make it.
Bring beer or something.
We’ll have meat, fish and vegetables to BBQ;

if you want to throw something special on,

bring it along to toss on the barbie.
Love ya the best,
Trista di Genova, MSt
